Berita Harian 28th June 2010 reported that not many Malays registered to become a voter. The ratio is 1 Malay to 40 Non Malays.This is indeed alarming.

I am not surprise with the report because many of my Malay friends are yet to register themselves. From my experience, lots of my friends have the "Nantilah" attitude. Honestly, sometimes I feel down when I invited them to register as a voter and they replied "Kita orang bukan macam kau Anas. Tak minat lah politik". I feel down because indirectly they are saying that I'm different. Maybe they are right. I am different because I am aware of my responsibility. I love my country and I want to make sure that the right person shall helm the power to determine the future of my country.

You need not to pay anything to register as a voter. You just need to bring your MyKad. That is all. Register now because time is running out. Why am I saying that? It is because many political analysts believe that the next general election will be early next year.

Iman really loves to put on nice clothes. She wears ear-ring now.

Unlike Iman, Amni has not shown any keen to put on nice dress and clothes YET. But, Amni is still young. We will see later.

Why is it so hard to ask them to look at the camera and smile? Am I a bad uncle?

Iman's parents are lawyers. That is why Iman shows some lawyer's skill. Last night, I told Iman that if she wanted to go out and watch Toys Story 3 with me, she has to lend her Ipod to me. After a few dolak dalih, she said "Ok. But I have to IMPOSE A CONDITION, I lend you my Ipod and you will lend me your laptop".
I was surprised with what she said until I was speechless. At a very early age, she already have a negotiation skills. I believe I suppose to reply back by saying "No lending my laptop! I will only bring you to watch Toys Story 3 if you lend me your Ipod. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT"

VACATION

One word to describe my vacation: AWESOME!!!! I have to say that indeed it was really awesome! I enjoy each and every seconds of it. It was difficult for me to return back to Malaysia. Today, I woke up and realized that I’m no longer in The Hague made me feel sad. 18 days is not enough. I wish that I can stay there longer.

I had explored many things when I was there. I had to do lots of great stuff and activities. Here are some pictures. ENJOY:

Amni. My niece. When I arrived, she was sleeping. I tried to wake her up. I said to her I had cadeau (gift), she then ran towards the guest's room and sat in front of my luggage. She is obsess with presents. :-)

On the other hand, her little brother, when I arrived, he kept on sleeping although I kissed him few times. He didn't bother to wake up.

Madurodum. The place where they design miniature of interesting places in The Netherlands. It is just behind my brother's apartment.

The miniature of their airport. Oh yes. I forget to mention. When I arrived at the airport, initially I was refused entry. The reason was I had not enough money to survive in Amsterdam. I had only 300euro with me. I had to explain to them that I was visiting my brother and therefore, I wouldn't need a lot of money as accommodation and meal will be provided by my brother. I think they were suspicious with me especially because according to my passport, the last place I visited is Saudi Arabia. I had to gave my sister-in-law's phone number and the Immigration officer called her. My sis-in-law came to the rescue. :-)

But on our way back home, we bumped into a group of school children. The children had ice cream with them. So, Amni cried for an ice cream after that.

LONG WAIT

Wow. This blog still exist. Ok. I know, I have not been putting any post for a long time already. I put the blame on exams. I have been busy focusing on exams. I think, from 24 hours in a day, more than half of it, I spent for studying. So, I believe I’m NERD. In fact, I am SUPER NERD.

The exam is finally over and the result is out already. Alhamdulillah, I passed. I don’t know about my marks but at the moment, the marks are not important as long as I know that I have passed the exam and eligible to proceed to the next phase of becoming a doctor. Now, I have completed 1 out of the 3 phases of MBBS programme in IIUM.

Honestly, I am a bit frustrated that I did not get any distinction in Phase 1. I aimed for at least one distinction. I thought I would be able to get a distinction in the final exam of Year 2 Block 4 because the exam was relatively easy. I did get a high marks. However, the marks were still not enough to qualify me to get a distinction. But, never mind. I know that I had worked my best and it was not my rezeki to get a distinction.

Now that the exam is finally over, I have 7 weeks of holiday. I have yet to plan my holiday. I only planned for the first 2 weeks that is I won’t be in Malaysia. I’m heading to Amsterdam. To visit my niece and my newborn nephew. It has been a very long time since the last time I met my niece. She was only 9 months at that time and now she is nearly 3 years old. As for my nephew, this will be the first time I met him. Geram nak dukung and gigit pipi both of them. Hehehe. I’ll be departing on 24th May and arriving back in Malaysia on 11th June. I’ll be there for 18 days. My twin and my mother will be going there on 12th June and be back after about 18 days as well. We will not be going together since my father is not going. So, someone has to be with him at home. Because of this, though my holiday is 7 weeks, I will be seeing my mother and my twin for about 5 to 10 days only. Sigh

Ok. I think I better go now. I haven’t started packing yet. I don’t know what to bring. Oh yeah.. With the volcano eruption, I am praying that I won’t be stranded at any airport alone.

I’m old. I celebrated my birthday last Monday. Thank you for all the wishes and gifts. (But keep that coming.. Hehehee)

Oh yeah… Happy birthday to Afif. Fyi, Afif is getting an Iphone. Another reason for me to hate him. But, actually I don’t have to hate him. His closest friend back in school told me that Afif is jealous with me. Afif is jealous that I have a car. He hates that everyone use “Kereta Anas” to address the car that I used in Kuantan. Hahaha. Sah, kita org nie kembar. Asyik cemburu antara satu sama lain. HAHAHAHA

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD TODAY

I just finished my exam last Wednesday. Now, I’m back at home. I will be on holiday for 10 days. I’m planning to spend my holiday with studying. Ok2. You can call me nerd if you wish. I need to study. I think I’ve wasted a lot of time this block. Plus, I’m sitting for a major exam this May and I haven’t prepared a thing. Nevertheless, if you want to ask me out, I’m ready! Just give me a call. I don’t want to spend the whole entire holiday in front of book. I must go out as well.

Back to the topic of the discussion, I would like to take this opportuinity to remind us all on the reason why we are here today. As a Muslim, we should understand the purpose of our creation, and that we are born to be leaders on this earth. Allah says in the Quran

“And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, „Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority.” (Al-Baqarah: 30)

As leaders, our responsible is to put Islam at the highest level and carry out its duties and obligations as commanded by Allah SWT. The question that I wish posed to the readers is “Are we doing a good job?”

Last Thursday, there’s an article in the newspaper about stupid individual/s (I prefer to call them stupid because of their act) dumping his/her/their baby. The baby was found at an entrance to a surau with the baby’s body full with ants. This is inhumane! According to the authority, the baby was believed to be born just a few hours before being dumped. Today, there’s a similar story. There are similar stories that had taken place before this. So, I conclude that currently, dumping of babies has become a “trend”. I’m really sad and mad because of this. The babies are innocent. Their parents are stupid, cruel and all the bad things. The enjoyed the free sex and once “terlanjur”, they don’t want the babies and shy of public perception’s towards them so they throw it away like nothing is wrong with it. This is due to the absence of fear towards sinful actions. Entertainments that are made to attract us to not remembering Allah are everywhere. The free mixing among boys and girls. In simple words, there is no fear towards Allah anymore.

I am writing about this because I feel obligated to prevent this from getting worse. I know that my act wont help much but Islam will not be espoused fully except when good is enjoined and evil is forbidden amongst mankind.

BROKEN HEARTED!

I can’t describe my feelings at the moment. I am really upset, angry and piss off. All my hard works become useless just in few seconds. Reason? I was appointed to become one of the committee members for Triple-I Medical Symposium 2010. The programme is schedule this Saturday and Sunday. We have been working hard for months to organize it. But last Wednesday evening, we received a directive order by the Rector’s office ordering us to CANCEL our programme. I repeat CANCEL! Not postponed. The approval of the programme had been retracted just only a few days before the programme. The thing that made me even upset and angry is that they never actually gave us the reasons. We are now in the process of getting clarification from them.

I had spent a lot of times and money for this. I was the person in-charge to invite all the speakers. Inviting speakers, I must say is not an easy task. I had to call them many times. Some of the speakers could not make it. So I had to find a replacement. There you see it, it’s not an easy task. The speakers had already agreed to come and some of them had bought tickets to come to Kuantan. We also had booked the accommodation for the speakers. Can you see, a lot of money had been spent. All these are put into waste.

For my part, as I was the person in-charge to invite the speaker, I had been assigned to break the bad news to the speakers. Terpaksa bermuka tebal. All of them ask me the reasons and all I can say is that I don’t know. I am still figuring it out. Some of them express their disappointment and anger at me. I am an innocent bystander!

I’m trying to look it from the positive side. Maybe there’s a hikmah behind all these. But because of all these, I’m not in the mood to organize any programme in the near future and I don’t want to be in-charge of inviting speakers anymore after this! This incident has successfully tarnished my reputation and image. Thank you very much!

I wish to welcome the new member of my family, MUHAMMAD AMMAR BIN AMIN. Alhamdulillah, my sister-in-law had safely delivered a healthy 3.24kg baby boy last Monday night. They are still in Netherlands. I can't wait to see them.

New rules to limit amount of petrol a vehicle owner can buy

I had just finished reading an article in The Star. I found that the government is planning to set a new rules to limit the amount of petrol a vehicle owner can buy. I'm not good in economics so I wont be commenting on the economics angle. I'm just going to comment based on rationality. I have to say that I applauded the move. I believe that all these times, the subsidy for petrol has been distributed to people who are not eligible for it. Meaning here is that those from Thailand and Singapore for example crosses the border to buy the petrol in our country because it is cheaper here. It is cheaper here due to the subsidy from our government. My opinion is that the subsidy is for Malaysians. Only Malaysians entitle to get it. As a result of this, Malaysians lost millions of ringgit. With the move, I hope that the subsidy is given only to Malaysian.

However, I have to say I disagree in one part of the rules that is a person would eligible for subsidised petrol for only one car. Many of Malaysians have more than one car. II believe that it will be proper if the amount of subsidised petrol a person is eligible for is based on the number of cars they have. It will make more sense. I have to say this because I'm worried. The car that I'm using now is under my father's name. I am only the second driver. So, if my father has another car at home, I wont be able to get the subsidised petrol. I will get the subsidised petrol only if my father decides to change ownership of the car to me (Which is actually good for me. It will make Afif jealous. :-))

I think the government should consider this deeply first before they come into implementation this May.

YIPPIEE!!!

Today is the nomination day for IIUM SRC's Election. I'm not sure when is the Election Day but if I'm not mistaken it is sometime next week. I need to check it and I have to check it ASAP because Kulliyyah of Medicine will be seeing a competition. YES! There is 3 students competing for the 2 seats allocated for Kulliyyah of Medicine.

For this reason, I am really happy although I'm not the one competing. I know that I did express my intention to contest in this year election. However, due time constraint, I have to postpone my intention. Since I entered my 2nd year, I have been very busy with society's works. I have been appointed as one of IIUM Volunteer Team's EXCOs. I am in charge for the Fiqh Medicine Interest Group (FMIG). Next week, I'll be in UiTM Shah Alam to fulfill their invitation to become the facilitators for their Fiqh Medicine Programme. The following week, I’ll be busy with Triple-I Symposium that is organized by IIUM Volunteer team with the support from Persatuan Perubatan Islam Malaysia (IMAM). For your information, FMIG actually deals with research mostly. We conduct research about Islamic stand on the latest innovation in medical world as well as educating the current and future health care providers on rukhsah ibadah.

Insyaallah, if everything goes well, I may contest next year but I have another problem actually. I don’t think my mother allows me to contest. She is afraid that I may lose my focus. She has even started worrying now since I’m active with society’s work.

Back to the issue of IIUM SRC’s election, I am really looking forward for the Election Day. But, I have a problem in choosing who to vote. Now, I’m waiting their manifestos. FYI, one of the contestants is a friend of mine. She’s very active in all the extracurricular activities and I’m not surprise that she contested in the election.

ALLAH KNOWS BEST

How do you know that what you wish for is the best for you? The answer is you DON’T! Indeed, it is true. Only one person knows what is good for us, what is bad for us and what is best for us. The one person is Allah S.W.T.. Allah keeps on saying in the Quran that He knows what is best for us. He also keeps on saying that He knows what we know not.

Why am I saying this? It is because I am experiencing it now. This week suppose to be a very good week for me. I received a lot of great news (but at the end of the week, I received a very bad news). I finally got what I had fought for. I should be happy because I had fought for it for a long time. I prayed to Allah to grant my wish but after a long duration only Allah grants my doa. But, it turns out that it is not the best for me. I believe that is the reason why Allah did not give it to me at the 1^st place. Now, I wish that I did not get it. Sigh!

Here I don’t mean that we should stop praying to Allah to grant us with what we wish for and simply accept whatever that may come to us. But what I mean here is that, we should always ask from Allah as Allah never says NO to all His servants’ prayers. Allah answers the prayers of His servant positively in one of the 3:

1. YES.

2. YES, but not now

3. I have a better plan for you.

So, keep on praying and request for what Allah thinks the best for you and not what you think the best for you.

EXAM, GETTING OLDER AND ALL

Dah berabuk rupanyer blog nie. Hehehe. Sorry about that. I just don’t have anything to write or share it with all of you. Plus, I’m a bit busy with study and organizing programme. I just finished sitting for my End Block Exam. The exam was really hard! Menyesal tak buat SDL betul2. I’m praying hard that I will pass this block with better result than last block although I know the chance is small.

Furthermore, we shouldn’t be losing faith on Allah. Mana tau, Allah bukak hati penanda soalan. Bagi markah lebih or tak nampak all the mistakes I did. :-)

Enough about study. I would like to take the opportunity to wish Happy Belated Birthday to Ainie. Semoga panjang umur and murah rezeki. :-) Each time when her birthday arrived, it makes me realize that we are soon going to wish good bye to 2009. GOD! Time passes so fast. I feel like we just celebrated New Year like last week. I realized that I have wasted a lot of time! Her birthday also reminds me that I’ll be celebrating my 22nd birthday in about 2 months. I can’t believe that I have lived in this world for more than 2 decades already. I questioned myself on what have I done so far? I had difficulties in answering that question. Maybe, it is not the time yet for me to ask the question. I should wait until I graduated at least. But when I think about it again, if I have to wait until I graduated, it will bring the meaning that I shouldn’t be contributing to the society at present at which I believe is totally wrong. I regard at this age is the golden time. The youngsters have their maximum capability. We should optimize it!

As I mentioned earlier, I’ll be celebrating my birthday soon. This time, I’m not looking forward for my birthday. I’m excited to get my first nephew. YEAH!!!! At the moment, I have 2 nieces. I’m really looking forward to get a nephew. My sister in law is expected to deliver her second child in February. The doctor said that it’s a boy. So, I am really excited. I can’t wait. The sad thing is that she’ll be delivering her baby at The Hague, thousands of miles away from here. So, I won’t be able to see and play with the baby! I have not event met her 1^st child for about 1 ½ year. Her first child is now 2 years and 3 months. So, I have not been on my niece’s life for more than half of her life. The only way for me to “mengubat rindu” is via looking at her photos in facebook. Here, I share some of it.

WAKE UP CALL

Everyone is aware of the result for the Bagan Pinang by-election. BN manage to win back the seat. This time, they won with a bigger majority. Even bigger to that of the majority that they won in the last general election that saw a political tsunami. The result came not as a surprise. In other words, BN winning the by-election is not unexpected. I still remember that one of PAS official said that it is hard for them to win the election. Bagan Pinang is an UMNO stronghold. It is as if PAS trying to take away Permatang Pauh from Anwar Ibrahim. Although, the result is expected, but what shocked me the most is the inability of PAS to narrow down the majority. UMNO won with bigger majority this time. I thought that they can actually narrow down the majority. So the question is what is happening to PAS and Pakatan Rakyat? What happen to the political tsunami? Is the Pakatan Rakyat has failed to keep the momentum running? Will this affect the outcome of the next by-election (if any) as well as the next general election? I can’t answer it by myself. Let the party leaders answer it. What I am going to stress here is that the result of the Bagan Pinang by-election should be a wakeup call for Pakatan Rakyat to perform better.

I am not going to elaborate further on the result. What I am going to discuss next is about the Bagan Pinang by-election campaign. I am a bit against one of UMNO’s campaign during the election. They said that those receiving scholars from the government should be thankful and vote for UMNO. I am really against this because does this mean that if I supported the opposition, I am not entitle to receive scholarship from the government or any form of help from the government. If the answer is yes, might as well we form 2 governments. One government is for those supporting the ruling party and the second government is for those supporting the opposition party. For me, it is fine and acceptable for anyone to support the opposition despite the fact that they receive financial assistance or any other form of assistance from the government. I can give you 2 reasons. The first reason is a country needs a strong government and a strong government exist only if there is a strong opposition. Voting for opposition is indeed doing a favor to the government because we are creating a strong government. The second reason is because people especially UMNO has to realize the fact that government and politics are 2 separate entities. Politics is part of government but not all parts government involve politics. From my point of view, politics is part of government only during election. After winning the election, politics should be put aside. Whoever wins the election, they are responsible to serve the people regardless of political background. No one should be sidelined. Receiving assistance from the government does not mean you received assistance from the political party i.e. the ruling political party. You are indeed receiving assistance from the ruling government. It is your right as a citizen.

Another thing about UMNO is that they are outdated. Seriously! I’m not joking. I’m telling here is not because I am against UMNO. UMNO can be a very good party if they actually follow the latest trend and demand. What I am trying to say here is I realize that each time if there is an election, be it general or by-election, UMNO’s manifesto is mainly about development. Are they running out of ideas or running out of things to offer to the people? Look at the opposition. I respect them because each time there is an election, they always have something new to offer. For example, in 1999 general election, their manifesto is mainly about Barisan Alternatif. They offer to become an alternative government to replace BN. In 2004 general election, PAS offered in their manifesto Negara Islam. In the last general election, PAS offered in their manifesto Negara Berkebajikan while Anwar with PKR offered in their manifesto Malaysia Baru. Each time, there is always a new thing to offer. Furthermore, I believe that development should not be included in manifesto because the task of developing the nation is the job of the ruling party regardless of which party that rules our nation. That is just my point of view. I believe that UMNO should consider it.

AN AWESOME WEEK

First and foremost, I have to apologize because I have not updated my blog for a long time and I have not come out with a good intellectual posting. I have to say that I had a rough time. A lot of so called bad things happen around me but no problem. I am fine.

I thought of updating my blog during the last weekend. I had everything in my mind. Just waiting for me to type it out. But, something came out. The Kulliyyah of Science (KOS) was organizing KOS Open Paintball tournament during the last weekend. At first, my friends were not interested to join the competition. Suddenly, on Thursday night we all decided to take part in the competition. The next day, we formed our team. We formed our team just a day before the competition. The closing time to submit the registration form was on Friday at 3pm. We submitted our registration form on Friday at 3pm. Our team comprises of Zul, Teez, Majid, Acap G, Halim, Che Mud and I.

Playing paintball was so great. It was our first time playing paintball. During registration, we were informed that there were only 5 teams who will be taking part in the competition. So, we thought that we had a good chance in winning the competition. At least number 4. The prize will be given to the champion up till number 4. On the day of the competition, the organizers informed that there were 9 teams competing. It was a bad news for us. However, thanks to our strategist, Acap G for his excellent strategy, our team made it to the semi finals and lastly we won 3^rd place. We won medals and RM215. In terms of money wise, it is not worth it. Why did i say that? It is because the money that we won has to be divided by 7 and to enter this competition, we spent about RM80 each. So, you can do the maths by yourself. Though money wise, it is not worth it, what most important here is the experience. Like I said, this is our first time playing paintball and the fact that we manage to go this far, is indeed a great achievement. Plus, we wont be getting any chance of playing paintball outside, spending just RM80. If there is a chance for us to take part again next year, Insyaallah, we will take the challenge.

As for me, I am not only bringing back medal and cash, I brought back along with me some souvenirs or what I called as “kenangan terindah”. I was shot twice at my head leaving behind 2 benjol. Satu kat dahi, which is HUGE. Bigger than a 50 cent coin. The other one is kat rambut. Actually, I was shot 3 times at my head. The 3^rd one hit the face mask. So, no souvenirs left. Being shot at my forehead was indeed a great experience although it was really painful. It won’t stop me from playing paintball in the future.

I have always wanted a nephew i.e. baby boy instead of a niece i.e. baby girl. I can still remember before my first niece was born, everyone else was hoping that it’s a girl. I am the only one hoping for baby boy. The reason is simply because so that I can play roughly with him. Main ganas2, main power rangers, etc. Having a niece would not give me the chance of doing so.

As an alternative, I like when my cousin came over to my house because he has a 3 year old son. I enjoy playing with his son, Azim. He came to my house recently. I played bunga api with him. He is afraid of nothing. Not even a huge flame.

I received a good news recently. My sister-in-law is expecting a baby boy! Yippie. She is expected to deliver her baby next February. That is very soon. Mind you that my birthday is also in February. So, I believe the baby will be very smart, genius and good looking just like his uncle. Those born in February are well known to have that characteristics.

I have a cousin who is currently working in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The last time I met him was when I went to perform umrah. We met before my parents and I departed back to Malaysia. That day, he gave some souvenirs to my father i.e. his uncle. Among the souvenirs that he gave is a piece of cloth for my father to make a baju melayu. After he left, I had a short conversation with my father:

Ayah :

Nak buat ape dgn kain nie yer?

Anas :

Ayah buat baju melayu lah.

Ayah :

Tp ayah rasa ayah tak nak buat baju melayu raya tahun nie. Sbb ayah baru je beli baju

Melayu. Awak nak?

Anas :

Erm…. Bleh jgk. (dgn nada serba salah nak amek.. tp dlm hati sbnarnya… NAK!!!!!!!!!!!)

So, that is the story how I got my baju melayu. Huhu. The problem right now is I heard that my cousin is coming back for raya. If he is celebrating hari raya here in KL, I am sure that he’ll be coming to our house. How we’ll he react when he found out that I used the cloth that he gave to his uncle for my baju raya?

That is a verse from the Holy Quran that I love to quote whenever my friends are sitting for an exam or when they have lost hope. The verse gives a deep meaning if we can understand it properly. Through the verse, Allah encourages us to have faith in Him and that we shall work hard and let the rest be decided by Allah.

Recently, I found that it is easier to say it then to actually apply in my life. Why do I say it? For your information, I failed in Year 2 Block 1 Minitest. This is not the first time I failed in my Minitest. This is my second time. The first was Year 1 Block 1 Minitest. Though it is my second time, I found that it is harder for me to accept the reality this time. The reason is simply because I worked really hard. I work day and night tirelessly. Honestly, the result came as a shock for me as I was actually confident of passing the exam. Before the exam, I believe that everything was at my finger tips. That is the reason why it was a bit hard for me to accept the result. It took me quite some time for me to finally face the reality. Things that had happen can’t be changed. It is no use to be tension as it won’t change my result. Like the verse says, let the rest be decided by Allah. Allah has put it that way. He knows what I know not. He knows what the best for me.

My second failure gives me the opportunity to review my life back. Review my relationship with him. I realize that when everything is easy for me, I tend to forget Him. I need to improve myself. I have to remember that Allah is always with me. Do not lose hope on him. Allah will always grant our prayers.

RAMADHAN, ME AND PATIENCE

Ramadhan really taught me to be patience. There are 2 events that really test my patience happen this week.

1^st event: I broke my favourite sunglass

Last Friday, I went to a petrol station. Usually, when I arrived at the petrol station, I will take off my sunglass and put it on the dashboard. I don’t know why that day I did not put it on the dashboard but instead I put it in my pocket. I think I was tired studying so did not make a wise decision. Hehehe. While I was waiting for the pump attendant to fill up my tank, I lean on my car. Then, you know what happen. I can’t describe my feeling back then. I was really sad and speechless. Ainie was right. I did it all by myself and so can’t put the blame on other people. Ainie was also right that if someone else were to break it, I was going to be really angry.

I just got back from sending the sunglass for fixing. I have to buy new lenses. It cost me RM160! SABAR JE LAH!!

2^nd event: Hit and run

It took place on the second day of my exam. I parked my car nicely in front of the Kulliyyah of Pharmacy building. I went to sit for the exam. After the exam, I walked slowly to my car with frustration because I was not satisfied with my answer in the exam. I could have done better. When I reached my car, I found that there was a huge scratch at the back of my car. It is still “fresh”. Someone had hit my car. He or she did not even left a note saying sorry or whatever. Frankly honest, I did not hope for any compensation as my car has a lot of scratch already. I was looking for an honest apology. That is what I want. If he or she were to leave a note saying sorry, I would have forgiven. Ini tidak! Marah nie!!!

To all my friends, if you found any red car with a scratch at the front bumper, please let me know. The driver of the car might be the driver who hit my car. The person that I am looking for! If I were to find the culprit, I want him or her to pay for compensation now.

HAPPY MERDEKA!

First and foremost, HAPPY MERDEKA to all. Today mark the 52^nd anniversary of our country’s independence. We have received independence for 52 years now. Alhamduillah. Hopefully, we will remain so forever.

Each time when we celebrate our country’s independence, there are some quarters of people saying “Merdeka kah kita?” I was one of them. I always question are we really merdeka? How can we claimed that our country has achieved kemerdekaan when in reality we were not given the freedom of speech, proper democracy, students are banned from politics and many more. However, my perception changed today. I woke up this morning and suddenly I had a thought that it is indeed true that we are not given all that freedom and we are not having the true merdeka but how much have we appreciated our so called merdeka? Did we ever consider that? As of this moment, I believe that although we are not having the proper Merdeka, but we should always appreciate it and preserve it. Indeed, we do not have the proper freedom of speech but we have internet. We have blogs. Use it to express our thoughts. You can make the world listen to you with your writing in your blog. However, this does not mean that we should just keep things this way for the rest of our lives. We should always fight for our rights. Fight for true independence!

As I mentioned earlier, use blog to express our thoughts. Now, I am going to take this opportunity to condemn a few people believed to be the residents of Seksyen 23 Shah Alam. They had a small demonstration in front of Bangunan Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri in Shah Alam. They disagree with the government’s decision to move a Hindu tample to their area. They claimed that it is not a good idea as the Indians are only minority in that area. I am not against the demonstration because as I mentioned earlier and in my previous posting, the rakyat deserve to show their disagreement. Holding a peaceful demonstration is one example of freedom of speech. But what I disagree the most is that during the demonstration, they bring along with them “kepala lembu”. This shows no respect to the people of other religions. It also shows how immature they are because they take things personally and not professionally. We are living in a multiracial country. The only way for us to remain harmonious like what we are having today is by practicing respecting others.

There are 2 messages in this posting. The first is to appreciate our independence and at the same time to fight for true independence. The second message is to respect others.

First and foremost, my deepest sympathy to the family of the late Senator Prof Datuk Dr Ismail Md Salleh who passed away this morning. Semoga rohnya ditempatkan dikalangan orang-orang beriman.

Senator Prof Datuk Dr Ismail Md Salleh is one great man. I really respect him. He excelled not only academically but all sorts of things. He did not use his blindness as a reason to achieved what he wants. I am able to say this because I know him quite well. He is among my father’s close friends. My father knew him since both of them were kids. They came from a same village. As they grew older, they became collogue at Fakulti Ekonomi, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Back in 2002, my history teacher assigned my class to prepare a scrap book about great people. I did about him. I interviewed him and during the interview, he told me his life stories. How he grew up and all the obstacles that he had to face. His stories were really inspiring.

His death came as a shock to me. I heard the news from my twin brother. He sent me a sms this morning. For me, his death is a great loss to the country.

AFIF BAKED. ANAS?

I sat for Year 2 Block 1 Minitest last Friday. I dare not to comment about it. All I can say is that it is tremendously difficult. I have to cancel my plan to go back during the revision week because the questions were so tough that I realize I need more studying.

After the test, I went back to Kajang. I went back by bus. I know, you guys must be surprised why I choose to go back by bus this time as many of my friends were shocked as well. The reason is because I was going back alone. No one is accompanying me. So, all the expanses are on me, myself. Therefore, it is better for me to ride a bus.

There are 2 reasons why I went back last weekend. The first is I need to get this

My car road tax. My car road tax will expire this Friday. So, I need to have the new one or else legally I can’t drive the car.

The second reason is I never had the opportunity to spent time with my twin since he got back last July. He is leaving for US this 4^th of September. So, I decided to go back and spent time with him. I arrived at the Terminal Bas Kajang at 7.15pm but I only arrived home an hour later. Usually it only takes me 15 minutes but because of traffic jam, it took me an hour. The next day, I woke up at 11.30am. Wohoo… After Zuhr prayer, Afif and I went out to play bowling. We played a total of 5 games. The first 3 was between me and him only. He won 2 games and I won only one game. Then, our sister together with our brother-in-law and niece tagged along. So, we played another 2 games. This time, my bro-in-law won and I got second place. :-)

At night, after Terawikh again Afif and I went out to Borak Kedai Kopi. We had chit chat over there for an hour. But, here is the interesting part. Before going to the coffee shop, my mom asked me if I want to bring some cookies back to campus. Of course my answer will be yes. One of it is this cookie

To my surprise, it was bake by my twin. I am not going to say anything about the cookie because the ego side of me says I shouldn’t. Hehehe. Afif and I are very competitive. I told my mom that I want to bake as well. I’m going to bake some cookies during my raya break. Wish me luck. But before that any ideas on what should I bake? Suggestion please.

Which party is Karpal from?

KUALA LUMPUR: There was a sense of disbelief in the High Court here yesterday when a reporter from Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) said she was not sure which party Karpal Singh belonged to.

Eliani Mazlan, 26, who took the stand on the third day of Karpal Singh’s sedition trial was being cross-examined by Jagdeep Singh Deo.

Jagdeep: Do you know which party is Karpal Singh from?

Eliani: I am not sure.

Karpal who was also present, could not help smiling in amusement when she said that.

Karpal was alleged to have uttered seditious words against the Sultan of Perak at his legal firm Messrs Karpal Singh & Co in Jalan Pudu Lama on Feb 6.

He is charged under Section 4 (1) (b) of the Sedition Act 1948.

Earlier, Jagdeep asked Eliani if she knew who Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was, to which she replied he was PKR’s president.

Jagdeep then asked if she knew that PKR was part of Pakatan Rakyat, to which she said she was not sure.

She also remained silent when asked if she had heard of Pakatan Rakyat.

Eliani was only two months into her job when she went to cover the press conference in February where Karpal is said to have uttered seditious words.

To a statement by Jagdeep that Karpal was a person of principle who held a different view on party hopping from his other colleagues in Pakatan, the reporter again replied that she was not sure.

Referring to the full transcript of the press conference, Jagdeep asked Eliana if she was sure that Karpal had really said he would sue the Sultan.

Jagdeep: At page four, paragraph two of the video transcript, Karpal said “In fact, I’ve stated very clearly that we will sue the Sultan together with the new state government as defendants if they persist.” Are you sure Karpal said he would sue the Sultan? What does it say?

Eliani: We.

Jagdeep: It is not I.

Eliani: But it could mean himself.

Jagdeep: We could mean I? Is that what you are trying to say? What was said in the transcript?

Eliani: We.

Jagdeep: So you agree that we is not I?

Eliani: Yes.

Jagdeep: You agree that your understanding is completely a misunderstanding?

Eliani: I am not sure.

Jagdeep also relentlessly questioned the witness about the “gaps” in the video footage of Karpal’s media conference which was tendered in court on Thursday.

Judicial Commissioner Azman Abdullah ticked Jagdeep off for his intimidating style of questioning and reminded him not to shout at the witness.

“But My Lord, I have yet to shout at her,” replied Jagdeep, drawing laughter from those present.

The trial resumes on Tuesday.

Baju Ayah
Living as a family apart is never easy. Not least for Little Amni.

There have been times when Amni misses her Dad so badly, I've had to show her videos of Amin playing with her when she was a baby. Or sometimes we'd have Amin call up to speak to her, to make her feel better.

So the last time Amin came over, I asked him to regularly wear one of his t-shirts, which happens to be the very same shirt he was wearing when I was in labour and Amni was born.

The idea was that I could let Amni constantly see the shirt when Amin's away, and maybe she wouldn't miss her Dad too much.

I think it's working.Amni will wrap her daddy's shirt around her everytime she misses him.

Amni's comfort toys - her soft toy and daddy's shirt.

AMNI... Pak Su Nas amat2 merindu kamu...

I think she has forgotten me. The last time I met her is a week before Ramadhan last year. Now, its a week before Ramadhan. So, it has already a year I have not met her. She probably does not recognize me anymore. :-( The last time we met, she is still unable to walk properly. Now, from the videos that I watched, she can run really fast now.

I am really looking forward to meet her. I am planning to visit her May next year. Please, let it become reality. What I mean here, tak nak plan nak pegi saja bt at the end of the day... cancel.
