I have been studying a lot lately and i found it is correct! The more I read, the more i forget. So, I have to re-read it again and again. So, what is the use of studying? Hehehe
Besides that, my study motto is "Do not use your brain, borrow others!". Last week, i found that my motto is in fact applicable! It started like this. I was so d*** lazy to study for my tutorial. So, I went to bed earlier. Around 10pm. Woke up at 6.00am. I had a choice to study but i chose not to. Hehehe. Dalam hati, dah kata tawakal je lah for this tutorial. At 7.30am i went for the tutorial. During the tutorial, i was unable to answer most of the questions. So, i peak to my friend's answers. I survived as i was not caught for cheating. But the best thing is that my score for this tutorial is 6/20. Yes, i know i failed. But, all tutorials before this where i answered all by myself , my marks are either 0 or 1/20. Therefore, my friends..... "DO NOT USE YOUR BRAIN, BORROW OTHERS!"
First and foremost, truly deeply sorry for not updating my blog for quite some times. I have been busy lately. Studying about boring virology as well as writing 6 practical reports. This is the result of doing last minute work. Hehehe.
Besides that, i don't have much things to say as there is nothing much happen lately except for UMNO General Assembly. Frankly, I am looking forward to see the outcome of UMNO general assembly. This time UMNO will have their party election. To date, Khairy won the Youth Cheif post and Shahrizat managed to out seated Rafidah. For those who are instrested in politics, the Deputy President post is the most awaited one as it will indicate who will be the next Deputy Prime Minister. There are 2 candidates for the post that are Muhyddin or Mat Taib. My choice is Muhyddin. The result will be out tonight.
The second event that I am looking forward is all the 3 by-elections. All political parties have named their candidates. The nomination day is this Sunday and the election is on 7th April. For Bukit Gantang, PAS named Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin, former MB as their candidate. When i knew that Nizar is PAS candidate, i have to say that BN have nil chance to win in the election. Honestly. From my point of view, this is a daring action made by PAS. PAS must have made the decision after evaluating that they have high chance to win.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish congratulations to all who have achieve outstanding result in SPM 2008. A reminder for all of you that SPM is not the end. It is just the beginning of a long journey that is full of obstacles. Those who failed to score well, no need to worry. I am sure if you work harder, you can perform well in your tertiary studies. A special congratulation I wish to hearing impaired N. Aghilan from SMK Jalan Bukit, Kajang (I am proud to be from Kajang!!) who managed to 10 1As and 2 2As. Your achievement proves that there is nothing can stop anyone from achieving what they aim for.
As you can see, the media have the attitude of publishing stories about achievements made by the OKU students. Back then, I used to question on the need to publicize their so called achievements because they did not even get straight A’s. The media made it as if it was a great achievement. Thanks to the noise pollution seminar that I was tasked to present about it and thank you also for the psychology lectures, I now have a clearer picture of the difficulties that the OKU have to face every day.
For those who are still wondering why the papers made it as huge issue, here is some useful information.
“The normal child will be surrounded by the spoken word and may well be processing this information from the very beginning, the deaf baby will be denied all this. The developing deaf baby child will have a greatly restricted input of verbal information. As a result, the most profound effect of congenital deafness is to be found in the area of language development.”
In simple words, deaf child fail to get enough exposure to spoken words. Failure to obtainednecessary exposure (by the age of 2, if I am not mistaken), will result in failure in language development altogether. Besides that, deaf people will also tend to miss out many qualitative aspects of communication since non verbal aspects of speech such as changes in intonation and pitch can convey a range of subtle semantic and emotional information. Moreover, in studying you require all your senses to be able to digest all the information. The deaf people are lacking one or more of the senses making it difficult for them.
That is some of the information that I can share in this post. So now, had you realized how difficult they are? The media is indeed performing a good deed by publishing their stories. As a conclusion, we may regard something as not really a great achievement in a normal individual but for the OKU it is in fact an outstanding achievement for them. Second, give the OKU due respect and lastly, be thankful to Allah that we are born without any disabilities.
8th March 2009 marked the 1st anniversary of the political tsunami that occurred in our country. In Perak, Pakatan Rakyat celebrated the anniversary by naming a rain tree where the emergency sitting of the state assembly was held as the Tree of Democracy. They also planted five trees nearby and named the trees: Transparency, Justice, Integrity, Trustworthiness and Welfare.
But mind you, that democracy will not be established merely by planting a tree. It takes each and every one of us to play our role. The first thing that we need to do is to know what democracy is. To know democracy in this term does not mean to know only the definition of democracy. It is beyond that. We need to realize and understand what democracy is, its concept and the important of it. However, the key player in establishing democracy in our country is our leaders as the major role resides on their hands. Leaders should show some respect to democracy and give democracy in ample space.
Malaysia who claimed to practice democracy since independence is in fact does not really practice democracy completely. We only practice partial democracy. However, the 12th general election saw democracy has started to flourish. From my point of view, no one loses in the last general election. In fact, the actual winner is the rakyat. Why do I say that? Here is the explanation. Any new ruling planned by the government must be brought to the parliament to be debated. In parliament, it requires 2/3 votes from MPs before the rules can be implemented. Before this, any new ruling brought by the government regardless it is in accordance with rakyat’s wish or not could easily pass this stage as MPs from government could not vote against it. Now, in order for a new ruling to be implemented the government has to obtain support from opposition’s MPs. The opposition can do a cross check and limit the power of the government.
I am happy that democracy has started to flourish in Malaysia. However, I am sad at the same time because our MPs fail to take this opportunity. Look at what is happening in Perak. There is a power struggle. We have forgotten the mandate given by the rakyat. We are too busy with power struggle and thus lost our focus in tackling today’s main issue that is the economic slowdown. So, I am really hoping that all MPs to stop politicking and start doing their respective jobs.
Note:
Bravo to my friend Nana who has registered herself as a voter.
I am not an economist. Therefore, I am not going to comment much about the mini budget tabled by Datuk Seri Najib last Tuesday. But, I applauded 2 incentives in the budget that are the RM5K discount in the car exchange program and the scholarship for the retrench workers to further their post graduate study.
I found it funny that the emergency sitting of the Perak State Assembly was held under a tree in a vacant lot about 200m from the state secretariat building after Pakatan Rakyat assemblymen were barred from entering the building. The emergency sitting passed three motions that are:
a motion of confidence to Datuk Seri Ir Nizar as the legal Perak mentri besar
an agreement to seek Royal consent for the dissolution of the state assembly
the adoption of the suspension of Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir and six executive councillors he appointed.
BN Menteri Besar Dr Zambry had earlier described the emergency sitting as nvalid and unlawful because it had not received the consent of Sultan Azlan Shah. As expected, Pakatan lawyers responded by saying the Ruler’s consent was only needed to summon a sitting by way of royal proclamation if the assembly had been dissolved or prorogued but because the last sitting was adjourned, the assembly could carry on its usual business in an emergency session.
If we think rationally, if the sitting is invalid and unlawful, why should the Police and Federal Reserve Unit personnel had to set up roadblocks and barred the main entrance of the state secretariat building early Tuesday morning as an attempt to block the proceedings. BN can always question the authenticity.
As conclusion I must say that Malaysian politics lacks maturity and wisdom.
